Ayaneo unveils Konkr Pocket Advance, a modern take on the Game Boy Advance
Ayaneo introduces the Konkr Pocket Advance, a handheld inspired by the Game Boy Advance, featuring a higher-resolution display and modern connectivity.
During its latest product sharing stream, Ayaneo revealed the Konkr Pocket Advance, a horizontal handheld that reimagines the iconic Game Boy Advance with modern upgrades. The announcement comes a few weeks after the 25th anniversary of the Game Boy Advance's US release, but the device is not from Nintendo.
The Konkr Pocket Advance keeps the same 3:2 aspect ratio as the original, using a 3.5-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 960 x 640 — a significant improvement over the original display. It includes a full set of ABXY buttons, additional menu buttons, and extra shoulder buttons. Modern features include a USB-C port, microSD slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. For a retro touch, there is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a volume wheel.
Ayaneo has only shown two colorways so far: a navy blue reminiscent of the classic indigo Game Boy Advance, and a coral orange that echoes the Spice Orange model. As usual, the company has not announced a price or release window for the handheld. However, fans are hoping for a larger production run than the Pocket Micro 2, which sold out within minutes due to its very limited quantities.
