Balsam Hill, a well-known brand in artificial Christmas trees, has launched a 50% off sale on Amazon Prime Day, clearing out old stock six months before Christmas. The deal allows shoppers to buy premium fake trees at half price, provided they are willing to store them until the holiday season.

Last November, the WIRED Reviews team conducted a blind test where three interior designers judged ten popular artificial trees. The overall winner was Balsam Hill's Vermont White Spruce, while the brand also placed fourth and won for quickest assembly. The company has been praised for its realistic appearance and build quality since its founding in 2006.

Among the discounted models are the prelit 5.5-foot Classic Blue Spruce for $300 and the unlit 7.5-foot Balsam Fir for $569 (the lit version of which took fourth place in the test). WIRED's Senior Director Martin Cizmar, who tested a 7.5-foot Balsam Hill tree long-term, reported that it was easier to assemble than any fake tree he had owned, despite being the largest, and that it received compliments throughout the season. He noted the tree is large and heavy, but he would buy it with his own money without hesitation.
