For the 21st consecutive year, Riga is hosting the contemporary culture forum 'White Night' (Baltā nakts), a night-long event that brings together residents and visitors to enjoy a wide range of free culture and art programming. This year's edition takes place on the night of September 5 into September 6.

Spread across the city

This year's program includes 30 different cultural events, located not only in Old Riga and the city center but also spread across several other districts, including Āgenskalns, Zasulauks, Dzirciems, Brasa, Skanste, Grīziņkalns, Teika, Vecmīlgrāvis and Sarkandaugava. This gives visitors the option to either focus on one part of the city or plan a longer route covering multiple districts.

Guidance for navigating the program

Given the scale of the offering and how widely the events are scattered across the city, choosing what to attend in a single night can be a challenge. To help people plan their route through the 'White Night', cultural journalists from the LSM portal, Latvian Television and Latvian Radio have compiled their own recommendations for events worth including in a walking itinerary.

Over more than two decades, the forum has become one of the most anticipated autumn cultural events in the Latvian capital, giving residents the chance to experience a variety of art forms in a single night, free of charge.
