A shooting in Baltimore, USA, has left a 12-year-old girl dead after a dispute over a parking space turned violent. The incident occurred on Saturday evening near a park where children were playing American football.

According to police, two adult men argued over a free parking spot. The confrontation escalated and the men began shooting at each other. One of the bullets struck the girl, who had come to watch the game and was not involved in the dispute nor the intended target. Four people were wounded in total during the shooting.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley told a press conference that police are searching for at least two suspects, though no arrests have been reported so far. He described the incident as the result of an argument between two men who showed no regard for the safety of those around them.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott called it one of the most horrifying things he has witnessed, stressing that a dispute between two adults led to the death of a child.

Family's grief

The girl, identified as Khloe Ishwea, was described by her grandmother as someone who called her every day and was her closest companion. The grandmother said she now deeply misses their daily phone calls.

The girl's mother expressed outrage that someone would bring a weapon to an event attended by children, and said she wants justice for her child.
