Belarus is forming a fourth airborne brigade, according to the commander of the country’s special operations forces. The new unit, called the 37th brigade, is taking shape near the city of Homel. Homel is about 40 kilometers from Ukraine’s border. The location places the brigade in the immediate vicinity of Ukraine’s northern frontier.

The brigade will become the fourth airborne formation in the Belarusian military. At present, it is in the process of being established. A permanent base for the unit is planned. This base will be located by the Ukrainian border. However, the base is not scheduled to be ready until 2027. Until then, the brigade’s permanent housing and infrastructure will not be available.

The information comes from Minsk’s Special Operations commander. The report was carried by Euromaidan Press. The announcement does not provide further details about the brigade’s size, equipment, or readiness timeline. It only confirms the unit’s designation, its approximate location, and the planned completion date for its base. The 37th brigade is expected to be the fourth such unit, indicating continued expansion of Belarusian airborne forces.
