Barcelona startup Kabilio raises €10 million to develop its AI accounting agent

Barcelona-based startup Kabilio, which builds an AI platform for accounting firms, has closed a €10 million funding round. It is launching its own AI accounting agent and expects to work with more than 500 firms by the end of 2026.

Kabilio, a startup based in Barcelona, Spain, that builds an artificial intelligence (AI) platform for accounting firms and the small businesses they serve, has closed a €10 million funding round. The round was led by venture investors Picus Capital and Visionaries, which also led the company's pre-Seed round. CDTI, Spain's public agency for technological innovation, took part as well. The money will help Kabilio move from automating isolated tasks to offering an agent that carries out complete workflows under an accountant's direction.

How the platform works

Kabilio was founded in 2025 by Jose Ojeda and Álex Valls, who are its Co-CEOs. The company began with pre-accounting: collecting and preparing documents and data for bookkeeping, a task usually done by hand. According to the company, its AI reads invoices and suggests how to book them, matches bank transactions, prepares reconciliation and flags items that need a professional's attention. Firms keep using their existing tools, and the accountant reviews and approves instead of typing. Kabilio claims this cuts time spent on bookkeeping and reconciliation by around 60%.

The new AI agent

The company announced its own AI accounting agent, starting with firms' core internal workflows. The agent can retrieve invoices and statements from client emails, match and reconcile bank transactions, validate entries and follow up on missing paperwork. It can also contact clients directly by email and WhatsApp to request further information. Accountants give instructions in plain language and set, client by client, how much autonomy the agent has.

In September, Kabilio launched Kabilio Empresas for small and medium-sized businesses, allowing them to issue invoices, connect bank accounts and track cash flow on the same platform their accounting firm uses. Kabilio works only through the accounting firm, which decides which clients join. Fiscalidad Inteligente and Alemany Assessors already use the technology for a large part of their client portfolios.

Plans

In a later phase, the agent will be extended to the firms' clients, issuing invoices, chasing late payments and requesting missing receipts on behalf of business owners. Kabilio expects to end 2026 working with more than 500 accounting firms, including Adlanter, Solfico and Gemap. The company has 80 employees, more than half of them in product and engineering.
