New basketball season to open with a rematch of last season's final
The Latvian-Estonian basketball league's new season kicks off on September 23, reuniting last season's Latvian championship finalists Valmiera and Ventspils, while Ogre hosts VEF Rīga in its first home game.

According to information published on the tournament's website, the new Latvian-Estonian basketball league season will open with a rematch of last season's Latvian championship finalists. The full schedule has not yet been released, but it is already known that on September 23, at the Valmiera Olympic Centre, Dāvis Čoders' "Valmiera Glass/ViA" — winners of both last season's championship and the Latvian Cup — will host their final opponents, "Ventspils".
Estonian clash
A day later, on September 24, Estonia's leading clubs will also face off, as newly crowned Estonian champions "Tartu University" host Tallinn's "Bigbank/Kalev", led by Rinalds Mālmanis.
Latvian championship bronze medalists "Rīgas Zeļļi" face a two-game road trip in Estonia in the season's opening week. On September 25 the team plays "Keila Basket", and the following day faces "TalTech/Alexela" in the Estonian capital. On that same day, September 26, "Liepāja" will also play in Estonia, taking on former teammate Klāvs Dubults, who now represents the local club in Pärnu.
Ogre awaits VEF
On Saturday, September 26, "Ogre", coached by Artūrs Visockis-Rubenis, will play its first home game of the season, hosting "VEF Rīga". Tournament organizers note that the published schedule may still be updated.
