226 corgis counted in Riga's Bastejkalns park, setting new record

For the fourth consecutive year, the centre of Riga hosted the Royal Corgi Walk, an event bringing together owners of the short-legged breed and their dogs. This year's edition attracted participants not only from Latvia but also from neighbouring countries.

Beating last year's tally

Last year's walk set a record of 198 corgis in attendance. This year, organisers and participants aimed to surpass that figure. An official count took place in Bastejkalns park, where a total of 226 corgis were tallied by the end of the event — more than 25 dogs above the previous record.

The walk has become an annual tradition in Riga, drawing a growing number of corgis and their owners from both Latvia and neighbouring countries over the past several years.
