iPhone Air 2 reportedly coming next spring with a second camera
According to rumors, Apple plans to launch the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027, possibly featuring a second rear camera, improved battery life, and the A20 Pro processor.

Apple may be preparing a follow-up to the ultralight iPhone Air introduced last fall. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company is considering releasing a second version of the device in spring 2027. Sources suggest the potential new model could add a second rear camera, better battery life, and an A20 Pro processor.
Apple rarely discloses sales figures for individual models, but the original iPhone Air did not appear to be a strong seller. The device was widely seen as a precursor to Apple's eventual foldable smartphone, and many close observers did not expect it to have lasting market presence. However, this rumor indicates Apple may have higher ambitions for the ultralight form factor, making it a more permanent part of its lineup.
In our review of the iPhone Air, we noted the single rear camera as a drawback, so reducing tradeoffs required by such a slim chassis could increase appeal. A spring release would confirm that Apple is rethinking its product calendar. Previously, all smartphone announcements were made in the fall, but over the past year, the company focused on premium models in September and moved the budget iPhone 17e announcement to spring. Since several of Apple's attempts at smaller smartphones (iPhone mini and iPhone SE) have been discontinued, the new strategy might be to offer compactness from a different angle.
