According to the Bauska municipality, an incident occurred on Monday at the preschool educational institution "Pasaulīte" in Bauska, where two three-year-old girls left the facility's territory. The children opened the gate themselves because it was not properly secured.

The situation was noticed by a woman who saw the girls outside the kindergarten area and immediately contacted the relevant services. The municipal police and kindergarten staff responded quickly, going after the children. Both girls were found and brought back to safety.

The municipality stated that after reviewing the incident, there was no basis for dismissing the teacher. However, the institution, in cooperation with the Education Department, has already begun implementing additional safety measures. It is planned that safety rules and response algorithms will be discussed again with all preschool institution heads and staff to prevent similar situations from recurring.

Additionally, the kindergarten is taking further steps today to ensure that the gates are properly fixed and locked, thus improving solutions for maximum child safety. The municipality emphasizes that during the summer period, preschool institutions in the region operate with duty groups where children may come from different classes, so particular attention is paid to compliance with safety requirements and the organization of child supervision.
