A historical echo
Human chains of this kind are not new to Latvia. Twelve years ago, when the Latvian National Library relocated to its new building on the bank of the Daugava, thousands of people lined up and passed books hand to hand into the new library building, known as the Castle of Light. That event remains one of the most memorable displays of public solidarity in recent Latvian history.
