Bauska Museum exhibits “Bauska Summer 2026” plein-air show through October 4

Bauska Museum is hosting an exhibition titled “Bauska Summer 2026,” featuring works created during a recent open-air art event, and it will remain open to visitors until October 4.

An international gathering of artists

From August 23 to 29, Bauska hosted an art plein-air event that this year had an international scope, bringing together artists from both Latvia and Lithuania. The participation of artists from different generations and levels of experience allowed the town to be portrayed from a variety of perspectives, revealing everyday details of Bauska that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Over the course of the week, participants depicted the town's urban environment, landscapes and daily life, each artist working in their own distinctive style. The Latvian artists involved were Dārta Stafecka, Dzintra Spradzenko, Gatis Šļūka, Laura Ikerte, Ieva Vorkale and Ainārs Pastors, while Lithuania was represented by Voldemaras Barakauskas and Laimutė Veličkienė.

The exhibition and its legacy

The closing exhibition showcasing the works produced during the plein-air opened at the museum on August 29 and will remain on display for more than a month, through October 4. It gives visitors a chance to see the familiar town through the eyes of different artists.

One of the works or sketchbooks created during the event will be donated to the museum's permanent collection, ensuring that this year's creative output continues to have a lasting presence.
