Bauska municipality finalizes school meal procurement worth €4.5 million
The municipality of Bauska has approved the results of a centralized catering procurement for nine educational institutions, awarding contracts to two companies for a total of nearly €4.5 million (excluding VAT) over five years.

According to a protocol published in the Electronic Procurement System, Bauska municipality has completed the evaluation of a centralized catering procurement for its educational institutions. The right to provide meals in nine schools and kindergartens for the next five years has been divided between two companies, with the total contract value reaching almost €4.5 million (excluding VAT).
The procurement was split into three lots, with three companies submitting bids for each. In the first and third lots, SIA “Žaks-2” was declared the winner with the maximum 100 points. The company will cater to Iecava preschools “Cālītis” and “Dartija,” as well as Iecava and Zālīte primary schools for €1,697,017.68 (excluding VAT). It will also handle catering at Vecumnieki secondary school, Misa and Valle primary schools for €1,951,007.35 (excluding VAT), securing contracts worth over €3.6 million in total.
In the second lot, SIA “CNC” won with 99.88 points, providing meals for Rundāle kindergarten “Mārpuķīte” and Bauska kindergarten “Saulespuķe” for €815,189.40 (excluding VAT). Other bidders included SIA “Baltic Restaurants Latvia” and SIA “IN gastro” (formerly SIA “Neiba”).
The new contracts will take effect after the current food supply agreements expire on August 31 of this year. The next centralized catering procurement for the remaining six municipal educational institutions is planned for 2027, according to deputy executive director Jānis Kalinka.
Strict quality requirements have been set: 50% of supplied milk and kefir, and at least 20% of processed grain products must be organic. At least 45% of meat products and eggs must comply with the Latvian National Food Quality Scheme. Fruits and vegetables must be seasonal, following the calendar developed by the Ministry of Agriculture. The municipality has the right to conduct unannounced inspections, check portion weights, product origin and expiry dates, and arrange laboratory tests. Violations may result in penalties or even unilateral contract termination.
In addition to catering, the municipality has also concluded a procurement for flowers and arrangements. A contract with SIA “Ints & Co” for Bauska and Rundāle institutions is valued at up to €25,998.17 (excluding VAT), while Iecava institutions will be supplied by SIA “Vincis” for €4,883.34 (excluding VAT).
