Bauska municipality spent nearly €905,000 on road and street maintenance in first half of year

Bauska municipality spent roughly €905,000 on road and street maintenance during the first six months of 2026, according to information provided by the local government. The largest share of this amount – about €462,000 – went toward winter maintenance work. The spending was financed through a state budget targeted grant, the municipality's general revenues, and funds designated for transit street maintenance. The municipality noted that final figures may still change, as not all completion certificates and invoices for some work had been received by mid-year.

Spending varies across districts

The Bauska district recorded the highest spending – just under €345,000, of which more than €208,000 went to winter maintenance. Additional work included repairing asphalt surface damage, dust suppression on gravel roads, and road surface grading, along with the preparation of construction documentation for several street and road sections, including the A7-Mūsa route.

In the Iecava district, about €268,000 was spent on maintenance, with the majority going to winter upkeep, where actual winter costs exceeded the planned budget by more than a third. A significant investment was also made in building a new parking lot on Rīgas Street in Iecava.

The Rundāle district spent just over €105,000, mainly on repairing gravel and asphalt surface damage, and completed design documentation for the Bauska–Priedītes road.

In the Vecumnieki district, spending reached about €186,000, with most funds directed toward pothole repairs, road grading, and winter maintenance across six parishes. The resurfacing of Pludmales Street in Vecumnieki was also completed.
