Bauska District starts new school year with 6,463 students and 18 new teachers
A total of 6,463 students, including 435 first-graders, have begun the school year in 23 educational institutions in Bauska District. Eighteen new teachers have also joined the workforce.
The Bauska District Municipality has reported that the new academic year – described as 2026/2027 – has begun in 23 local educational institutions. In total, 6,463 students have returned or started school, including 435 first-graders and 206 twelfth-graders who are set to graduate at the end of the year.
The teaching staff includes 913 educators, among them 18 new teachers who are starting their careers this year. Over the summer, schools in the district underwent various improvements: renovation works were carried out, new equipment was purchased, and both accessibility and energy efficiency were improved.
Work at Bauska State Gymnasium
Several projects have also been completed at Bauska State Gymnasium. The school has acquired 24 new sets of student desks and chairs, a lawn tractor, and a laboratory glassware dishwasher for the chemistry classroom. Windows have been replaced in four classrooms, the roof of the new building has been repaired, and work continues on installing elevators to ensure accessibility. Furniture has been made for the design and technology classroom, and a contract has been signed to replace the stadium’s artificial turf surface.
