Svetlana Vāverniece to temporarily lead Bauska Primary School
The Bauska municipality has appointed Svetlana Vāverniece as acting principal of Bauska Primary School. She takes up the role on August 22 and will serve until the council appoints a permanent director.

The Bauska municipal government has issued an order appointing Svetlana Vāverniece, previously deputy principal for education at Bauska Primary School (Bauskas pilsētas pamatskola), as acting principal for a set period.
She begins her new duties today, August 22, and will continue in the role until the Bauska municipal council decides on the appointment of a permanent school director. Under the order, she is set a standard 40-hour work week and a monthly salary of 2,009 euros.
Leadership change ahead of the school year
The decision follows a difficult situation created when the school's previous leadership team resigned shortly before the start of the new academic year. To ensure a smooth start to studies and the preparation and coordination of staffing rates for teachers and support staff, the municipality decided to bring in an experienced specialist.
Vāverniece finished her tenure as director of Skaistkalne Secondary School this summer and agreed to assist Bauska Primary School during the transition period. The municipality cited her prior management experience and strong professional performance at Skaistkalne Secondary School as the basis for the decision.
The municipality thanked the school community and parents for their constructive and open dialogue and invited continued cooperation in supporting the new acting head during this important transitional stage.
Last school year, Bauska Primary School had 271 students. Statistics show the number of pupils has dropped by 8% over the past decade.
