Bauska entrepreneurs Kazaki lease Rēzekne SPA center, plan hotel nearby

SIA «KIK Wellness Rezekne», led by Bauska-based entrepreneurs Kaspars and Ilona Kazāki, has become the tenant of a SPA center owned by the Rēzekne municipality. Located on the shore of Lake Kovšu, the complex will be developed under the brand «Lakeside Wellness Rēzekne», reports LSM.lv.

The municipality managed to find a tenant only after more than 20 unsuccessful auctions. The winning monthly rent bid was 2,480 euros without VAT, up from a starting price of 2,380 euros. The lease runs for 30 years, and the tenant is required to invest at least 500,000 euros and create at least 15 new jobs.

Plans for the center

The first floor will house a fitness center and café, while the second floor is designated for an active recreation zone with saunas and group activities such as sauna rituals and water aerobics. The third floor contains 16 rooms for beauty and massage treatments. The owners plan to split visitor flow by time and price, for example offering cheaper morning access for seniors.

Additional investment in a hotel

The company also purchased the adjacent plot at Brīvības iela 23 for 126,000 euros, where a hotel is planned. It must be completed by the end of 2029, with an investment of at least 4.53 million euros and at least 25 new jobs created.

Construction of the recreation center cost a total of 6.9 million euros, of which 5.03 million euros came from European Regional Development Fund co-financing. The facility has previously been cited as one of the causes of Rēzekne municipality's financial difficulties.

In Bauska, the Kazāki couple was previously linked to dairy processing company «Baltic Dairy Board» and recently developed a low-rent apartment building on Ceriņu iela 8, which put 60 apartments into operation.
