On Thursday, June 25, deputies of the Bauska Municipality Council supported Linuta Gerge's request to be released from her position as director of Bauska State Gymnasium. Her employment relationship will be terminated on August 21, 2026, based on an employee notice as per Section 100, Paragraph 1 of the Labor Law. The resignation request was received on June 4. Gerge was appointed to the director position by a council decision on November 28, 2019.

Council deputy and deputy director of the gymnasium, Inita Nagnibeda, publicly thanked Gerge for her work, noting that she has spent her entire career at Bauska Primary School and the State Gymnasium. Nagnibeda emphasized the hard work invested in creating the new school, especially after the primary school was liquidated, which required uniting the staff while maintaining high educational quality to preserve the State Gymnasium status.

In 2024, Gerge received the Golden Oak award – the highest honor from Bauska Municipality. Her pedagogical career began in 1978 when she became a primary school and mathematics teacher at Bauska 1st Secondary School. From 1990 to 2011, she served as deputy director for education. After the secondary school reorganization, she led Bauska Primary School, and since the 2019/2020 academic year, after the merger of the primary school with Bauska State Gymnasium, she has been the gymnasium's director.

In an interview with "Bauska Life," Gerge stated that school is for children and that one must be demanding, friendly, and supportive in this role.
