Bayern claims 12th German Super Cup with win over Borussia Dortmund
Bayern Munich beat hosts Borussia Dortmund 2:1 on Saturday to win the German Super Cup for the 12th time.

Bayern Munich secured the German Super Cup, named after Franz Beckenbauer, on Saturday with an away victory over Borussia Dortmund. It was the 12th time the Munich club has won this trophy. The match finished 2:1 in Bayern's favor, with the visitors leading 2:0 at halftime.
Bayern opened the scoring in the 28th minute through Nathaniel Brown. In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Michael Olise doubled the lead, having himself provided the assist for Brown's goal.
The match featured a contentious moment in the 42nd minute when Ramy Bensebaini put the ball in Bayern's net, but the goal was disallowed for offside. In the second half, Dortmund managed to narrow the gap, with Fábio Silva scoring in the 75th minute to make it 1:2.
In the 90th minute, Dortmund's situation worsened further when Bensebaini committed a foul that saw him shown a red card, leaving the hosts down to ten men.
With this victory, Bayern continues to assert its dominance in German football. Last season the club won both the national championship and the German Cup, while Borussia Dortmund finished as runner-up in the league.
