Concerns grow that government's careless approach could hurt investment rating

Concerns have been raised that an inconsistent and careless government attitude toward economic growth and attracting investors could lead to a decline in the country's investment rating.

There is a growing view that economic growth has become not just a matter of prosperity but also of national security. Yet, according to observations, government circles have so far shown a rather careless attitude toward this issue, including when it comes to attracting investors.

A lack of consistency

The criticism is directed less at the goal of attracting investment itself and more at how it is being pursued. It is argued that public administration should be expected to show at least some consistency in decision-making — meaning rules and attitudes toward investors should not shift suddenly or without justification depending on circumstances.

Not every investor is equal

At the same time, it is acknowledged that not every investor showing interest is one whose arrival a country would want to celebrate. Some degree of caution and evaluation is therefore justified. However, this does not excuse general inconsistency or carelessness in decisions covering investment attraction as a whole.

Possible consequences

If this approach continues, it risks affecting the country's investment rating — the international assessment of its financial and investment environment, which directly influences its ability to attract capital and its credibility among foreign investors. A lower rating could, in turn, hinder further economic growth precisely at a time when such growth is considered strategically important.

Overall, the concerns raised point to the need for a clearer and more predictable stance from public administration on investment and economic growth issues, in order to avoid damaging the country's international standing.
