This year the annual #BeActive hike, held as part of European Sport Week, will expand its reach and take place not in one but in three different locations across Latvia. The Latvian Sports Federations Council (LSFP) announced the event.
Dates and locations
On September 26, the hike will take place simultaneously in two towns — Smiltene and Liepāja. The following day, September 27, residents will be able to join the hike in Augšdaugava municipality.
By spreading the event across several regions, organizers aim to give people in different parts of Latvia a chance to take part locally and explore their surroundings on foot, while promoting the broader goal of European Sport Week — encouraging a more physically active lifestyle.
About the initiative
The #BeActive hike is part of the wider European Sport Week initiative, which encourages people across Europe to move more and take part in physical activity regardless of age or fitness level. In Latvia, the event is organized and coordinated by the Latvian Sports Federations Council.
