Benny Gantz drops out of Israel's election race
Israeli politician Benny Gantz is withdrawing from the election race because polls show his Blue and White party below the threshold for parliament. Surveys put its support under 3.25 percent.
Israeli politician Benny Gantz has dropped out of the election race, Al Jazeera reports. The decision followed opinion polls showing his Blue and White party below the 3.25 percent threshold required to win seats in the Knesset, Israel's parliament.
In Israeli parliamentary elections, parties must secure a minimum share of the vote to enter the Knesset. Polls indicated that Gantz's party was not reaching that line, and he chose to leave the contest.
The source gives no further details on Gantz's future plans, the election date or how the move may affect other parties.
