According to data compiled by the European Commission, the average price of 95-octane petrol in Latvia stood at €1.797 per litre in the week from 15 to 22 June, unchanged from the week before. Two weeks earlier, the same fuel cost €1.866 per litre.

The average diesel price also remained stable at €1.786 per litre, identical to the previous week. Two weeks earlier, diesel was slightly higher at €1.789 per litre.

Since the start of the year – comparing with the week from 29 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 – the price of 95-octane petrol has increased by 19.2%, while diesel has risen by 19.9%.

On 1 April, the Law on Limiting Fuel Price Increases came into effect, temporarily reducing the excise duty on diesel from €467 to €396 per 1,000 litres. For marked diesel used in agriculture, the excise rate is €21 per 1,000 litres. Initially planned to apply until 30 June, the coalition parties agreed on 8 June to extend the reduced excise rates until the end of the year.

This year, the record diesel price was recorded in the week of 6–12 April at €2.12 per litre. The record for 95-octane petrol was set in June 2022 at €2.104 per litre, while the previous diesel record also occurred in June 2022 at €2.108 per litre.
