Berlin Pride attack: One woman dead, 16 injured after vehicle rams crowd
A white vehicle drove into a crowd at Berlin's Christopher Street Day Pride event in Tiergarten park, killing one woman and injuring 16 others. Some victims also suffered stab wounds.
At approximately 22:00 local time (20:00 GMT) on Saturday, Berlin police received a report of a white vehicle ramming into a crowd at the annual Christopher Street Day Pride event near the Brandenburg Gate in Tiergarten park. Hundreds of thousands had gathered for the celebration. In addition to the vehicle attack, some people were stabbed.
Organisers immediately cancelled the event, instructing the crowd to evacuate and projecting the word 'Evacuation' on a large screen. Unverified social media footage showed large crowds leaving as emergency vehicles rushed to the scene.
Around 01:00 local time, police confirmed that one woman had been killed and 16 others injured. Shortly after, they located the suspected vehicle, which had crashed into a tree. No further details about the suspect have been released.
