UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and French President Emmanuel Macron met at Downing Street to discuss further steps toward developing production of long-range SCALP missiles in Ukraine, which rely on both French and British technology.
The meeting was reported by Yevropeiska Pravda, citing a statement from the British prime minister's office issued after hosting the French president in London.
Joint effort
The two leaders agreed it was essential to work together to find a way forward in protecting shared interests. During the talks they discussed concrete steps toward establishing local assembly lines in Ukraine for long-range SCALP missiles that use British technology.
The leaders also reviewed the outcomes of last week's "coalition of the willing" meeting held in Kyiv, describing it as successful.
Earlier statements
During a visit to Kyiv on 24 August, Burnham announced that London had approved a decision to share Storm Shadow missile production technology with Ukraine. At the "coalition of the willing" meeting, the British prime minister assured Ukraine of continued support and stressed that Britain would not be intimidated by Russia.
