Recommendation plan for children's dental health in Latvia puts prevention first
The Children's Hospital Foundation has drawn up a recommendation plan to improve children's dental health in Latvia as part of its "Smile for the Future" project. Its main conclusion is that timely prevention would reduce the need for complex treatment.

The Children's Hospital Foundation (BSF) in Latvia has produced a recommendation plan for improving children's dental health. It was developed within the foundation's "Smile for the Future" ("Smaids nākotnei") project. The plan's central conclusion is that timely prevention matters most. If children's dental health is addressed early, fewer of them would later need complex treatment.
What the foundation asks for
The foundation calls on decision-makers to act in several areas:
- strengthen regular preventive care;
- develop outreach (mobile) services;
- provide practical support to both children and their caregivers.
Who needs particular attention
The foundation stresses that special attention should go to two groups of children: those living in the regions, and those in out-of-family care.
The recommendation plan is addressed to decision-makers and is the result of the "Smile for the Future" project.
