Bertāns' Dubai falls to Real Madrid in overtime at EuroLeague Super Cup semifinal

Latvian basketball player Dāvis Bertāns' club Dubai lost 95:98 in overtime to Real Madrid in the EuroLeague Super Cup semifinal in Abu Dhabi. Real Madrid will face reigning EuroLeague champion Olympiacos Piraeus in the final.

Dāvis Bertāns' Abu Dhabi-based club Dubai suffered a painful defeat on Friday, falling 95:98 in overtime to Real Madrid in the semifinal of the EuroLeague Super Cup. The teams were locked in a tight contest that finished level after four quarters, forcing the outcome to be decided in overtime, which the Spanish club won.

Bertāns played four minutes and 30 seconds, making one three-point shot and grabbing one rebound during his time on court. He also picked up a foul and finished with an efficiency rating of -1.

Top scorers

For Dubai, Elie Okobo led the scoring with 24 points. Dwayne Bacon added 19 points, while McKinley Wright and Tornike Shengelia contributed 12 and 11 points respectively.

Real Madrid's win was driven by Walter Tavares, who scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot also scored 20 points and added six assists.

The other semifinal

In the EuroLeague Super Cup final, Real Madrid will meet reigning EuroLeague champion Olympiacos Piraeus, who beat Fenerbahce Istanbul 92:90 in their semifinal. Olympiacos' win was led by Evans Fournier with 19 points, Jean Montero with 13 points, and Donta Hall, who recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds. For Fenerbahce, Shavon Shields scored 18 points, while Braxton Key added 17 points, six rebounds and five steals.

The final and the third-place game will take place in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. This is the first time the EuroLeague Super Cup has been held.
