One of Latvia's basketball talents, 16-year-old Beruē, continues to attract attention from the strongest US college programs. Another leading university has joined his list of offers, alongside already known schools such as Texas, Michigan, Miami and Iowa. The player could start competing at the college basketball level in 2028, and he is currently regarded as one of the biggest prospects in the 2028 class, sitting sixth in ESPN's rankings – a sign of strong potential to reach the NBA.

Beruē is now preparing with Latvia's U16 national team for the European Championship in Romania, which begins on 7 August. Latvia's group will feature Italy, Turkey and the Czech Republic. This will be the young basketball player's second U16 European Championship, having taken part last year at the age of 15.

Last week, Beruē represented Latvia in the Baltic Cup, where the team claimed victories over Lithuania and Estonia but lost to Spain. In the successful games, he scored 39 and 24 points, along with 21 and 10 rebounds respectively. Against Spain, he recorded 23 points and 17 rebounds. His performances earned him the MVP award for Latvia's U16 side.
