The Torņakalna Foundation has announced the availability of a new support service for families who have experienced the loss of a child. Named "Dzīve un sēras" ("Life and Mourning"), the service is offered as free psychosocial rehabilitation. It is designed to help parents and families receive professional assistance in coping with grief.

Eligibility covers several situations. Families who lost a child during pregnancy are among those who can apply. In addition, the service is intended for parents whose child died as a result of illness, an accident, violence, or suicide. Parents whose adult child has died are also encouraged to seek support.

Foundation representatives emphasise that the service is free of charge, so financial difficulties should not prevent families from seeking help. Losing a child is an extremely painful experience, and having access to structured psychosocial support can make a significant difference. The new service broadens the possibilities for families to receive emotional and social help during a very difficult period.

Those wishing to receive support are invited to contact the foundation directly. Specific details about the application process were not disclosed in the announcement. The foundation’s initiative aims to ensure that grieving families know where to turn and can access the help they need without additional burden.
