Ukrainian drone unit commander Magyar discloses his brigade's losses and enemy casualties inflicted
Commander Robert Brovdi has publicly revealed the losses of the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade and the Russian casualties it inflicted, a rare disclosure at the individual unit level during wartime.
Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, has shared on Facebook detailed figures on the losses suffered by his own unit, the 414th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, known as Magyar's Birds, as well as the casualties it has inflicted on Russian forces.
According to Brovdi, 79 service members of the brigade have been killed since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. This figure covers the entire four-and-a-half-year period of the full-scale war.
Figures on enemy losses
The commander also disclosed data on Russian troop losses attributed to the brigade over two years of rotations in eastern Ukraine. Brovdi said that since 21 July 2024, the unit has verified 50,336 Russian soldiers as killed or wounded, including 29,023 killed and 21,313 wounded.
He stressed that these figures apply solely to the 414th Brigade and not to Ukraine's armed forces as a whole.
Rarely disclosed information
Data on Ukrainian military casualties is considered sensitive during wartime and is typically not released at the level of individual units. Brovdi appears to be among the first commanders of a branch of Ukraine's armed forces to publicly state an exact death toll for his unit. Ukraine does not officially publish regular, detailed figures on the total number of service members killed during the full-scale war.
