Bezzecchi wins Indonesian Grand Prix as Martin retakes championship lead
Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi won the MotoGP round in Indonesia, while Spain's Jorge Martin finished third to move back ahead of Marc Marquez in the standings.

Marco Bezzecchi of Italy won the Indonesian Grand Prix, a round of the MotoGP world championship, the top-tier motorcycle racing series, at the Mandalika International Circuit in Indonesia on Sunday. Jorge Martin of Spain finished third, and that was enough to put him back at the top of the 2026 standings, ahead of Ducati's Marc Marquez. Both Bezzecchi and Martin ride for Aprilia, an Italian manufacturer.
The race for the win
Bezzecchi and pole-sitter Raul Fernandez, a Spaniard, got through the first corner and pulled clear of the chasing pack. Fernandez initially looked comfortable but began to fade, and Bezzecchi took the lead on lap 19 before building a gap. He had made his move with nine laps remaining, in sweltering conditions.
Fernandez took second, ahead of his compatriot Martin, which gave Aprilia two Spanish riders on the podium behind the winner.
Marquez loses the lead
Marquez, Ducati's reigning seven-time world champion, finished sixth. He had taken the championship lead for the first time this season by winning Saturday's sprint race, in which Fernandez and Bezzecchi clashed and crashed out. Fernandez had fractured his index finger, so he needed to brake with his middle finger throughout Sunday's race.
Standings
Martin, the 2024 world champion, now leads with 355 points. Marquez is second on 353, and Bezzecchi is third on 309. Five grands prix remain in the 2026 season. The next round is the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, in two weeks' time.
