Association Apeirons Points to Flaws in the Rebuilt Zemitāna Bridge Overpass

The association Apeirons visited the rebuilt Jorģis Zemitāns bridge overpass in Riga in person and found several shortcomings that make it harder to use. The reconstruction of the overpass was completed only a month ago, so the defects came to light soon after the site was finished. Following the inspection, the city council has said it will commission an independent assessment.

Problems identified

During the visit, the association noticed that the tactile guide lines, meant to help people find their way, run into a pole. There are gaps by the railings. The doors of the lift at the overpass cannot be closed.

The overpass reconstruction was carried out at the same time as the construction of the "Zemitāni" mobility point. Problems have also been found at the Zemitāni station.
