Bigbank/Kalev signs British League Most Improved Player Owen McCormack
Estonian basketball club Bigbank/Kalev has signed Owen McCormack, last season's British Basketball League Most Improved Player, who will represent Scotland's 3x3 team at the Commonwealth Games in the coming weeks.
Estonian basketball club Bigbank/Kalev continues to strengthen its roster by adding center Owen McCormack. The 25-year-old, 205 cm tall player was named the Most Improved Player of the British Basketball League last season.
McCormack spent the previous two seasons with the Bristol Flyers, competing in the British Super League and the European Northern Basketball League (ENBL). In his debut season after college in the US, he averaged 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 games.
Last season, his role expanded, and in 29 games he averaged 9.1 points and 5.5 rebounds. This improvement was recognized by league coaches, captains, and journalists, who voted him first in the Most Improved Player award.
McCormack has experience playing in Latvia and Estonia, having visited Keila and Valmiera with the Flyers over the past two seasons. In January this year, Bristol defeated Valmiera 106-91, with McCormack scoring 20 points and grabbing three rebounds.
From July 23 to August 2, the Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow, where McCormack will represent Scotland in the 3x3 basketball tournament. He was born in North Carolina, USA.
