Bijan Robinson answers with electrifying 55-yard run to tie game against Packers
In a Week 3 Thursday night matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers, Falcons running back Bijan Robinson broke off a 55-yard run and capped the drive with a touchdown, tying the score at 7-7.
Packers strike first
Green Bay drew first blood in Thursday night's game, though not without a missed opportunity beforehand. Safety Xavier McKinney intercepted Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr., but the Packers offense failed to capitalize, going three-and-out as Jordan Love completed just 1 of 3 passes for 6 yards on that series.
On their next possession, however, Green Bay put together an 87-yard, nine-play drive. The biggest gain came from Matthew Golden, who hauled in a 45-yard catch to the Atlanta 43 on third-and-11. The drive ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Love to Christian Watson, with 5:13 left in the first quarter. It was Watson's fourth touchdown reception of the season already — he is chasing his career high of seven touchdowns, set as a rookie in 2022. On the scoring drive, Love went 5 of 6 for 76 yards plus the touchdown.
Robinson answers immediately
As the first quarter wound down, things looked shaky for Atlanta — according to Falcons Wire, Penix appeared to be struggling in his return to the lineup, and cornerback Mike Hughes was being beaten repeatedly on defense. Bijan Robinson changed the momentum with an electrifying 55-yard run. Per that same source, Robinson entered the game already holding the most yards from scrimmage of any player in prime-time games this century, and this run only extended that streak.
Shortly afterward, Robinson himself finished off the drive with a short rushing touchdown, tying the game at 7-7 heading into the second quarter. By that point, Robinson had already amassed 90 yards from scrimmage on the night.
