Former Alcaraz coach Ferrero to join Shelton's team
Spanish coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, who previously worked with tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, will join the team of American Ben Shelton. The collaboration will begin in the off-season, ahead of the 2027 season.

Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero, a former world number one in tennis and the former coach of Carlos Alcaraz, will become part of the coaching team of American player Ben Shelton. Ferrero announced the move himself on Sunday. Shelton is 24 years old and currently ranked fourth in the world, so the new partnership involves one of the strongest players in men's tennis.
What is changing
Ferrero has not been working with Alcaraz recently: he ended their collaboration at the end of last year. According to the source, Alcaraz won six major titles with Ferrero's help. The coach will now join the team led by Shelton's father, Brian. He will begin working with his new charge in the off-season, before the 2027 season.
Shelton's season
This year Shelton won tournaments in Dallas, Munich, Stuttgart and Montreal, and reached the final of the US Open. He is currently preparing for the Paris Masters and for the season-ending event, the ATP Finals, which take place this month.
Comments
Ferrero said Shelton has extraordinary talent, power and character, and expressed delight at joining Brian and the team at this new stage. Shelton, for his part, called Ferrero one of the finest minds in tennis. He believes the coach's experience of winning at the highest level and of developing champions will be a huge benefit to the team.
