Former NBA MVP James Harden arrested on weapon charge in Houston
Cleveland Cavaliers guard James Harden was arrested early Saturday in Houston on a misdemeanor gun violation, then released on $100 bond.

According to court records, James Harden was arrested early Saturday morning in downtown Houston after a police stop around 4 a.m. He was driving with four others when an officer noticed a handgun in the cup holder of his Mercedes. Harden confirmed the firearm was his, was taken into custody, and booked at Harris County Jail. He was later released on a $100 bond, with a court date scheduled for June 22. The Cavaliers have not commented on the incident.
Harden, an 11-time All-Star and the 2017-18 NBA MVP, is currently with his sixth team. Cleveland acquired him in a February trade from the Los Angeles Clippers. The 36-year-old is eligible to become a free agent at the end of June but is expected to remain with the Cavaliers after helping them reach the Eastern Conference finals this season.
In 26 games with the Cavaliers, Harden averaged 20.5 points, 7.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. For the full season, he averaged 23.6 points, 8.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 70 games. Since being drafted third overall in 2009, Harden has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers, but has yet to win an NBA championship.
