Former President Vējonis Becomes Minister's External Advisor

Ex-President Raimonds Vējonis has been appointed as an external advisor on strategic development and policy issues, serving without salary.

Former Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis has joined a minister's office as an external advisor. According to the minister's advisor on strategic communication, Mudrīte Grundule, Vējonis will provide consultations on strategic development and policy. The position is unpaid.

Vējonis is a long-time member of the Latvian Green Party, having served as Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development and later as President of Latvia for one term. In recent years, he has chaired the Latvian Basketball Association.

The minister's office includes several other advisors. Egita Kazeka handles public administration, Ilze Āboliņa oversees ICT, Pēteris Dimants focuses on regional development, and Mudrīte Grundule is in charge of strategic communication. Another external advisor, Ēvalds Urtāns, consults on artificial intelligence; he also works without pay.

The office is headed by Evija Ķēniņa, a former consultant for the United List parliamentary faction, assisted by Ilze Āboliņa. The parliamentary secretary is Ainārs Mežulis (LZP), a former deputy of Smiltene municipality council.
