Former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Kravchenko allegedly breached residence registration rules in Vienna
Ukrainian journalists found that the Vienna address listed as former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko's residence is actually a corporate services office, not a real home. This suggests Kravchenko may be seeking to settle permanently in Austria.
A journalist for Ukrainska Pravda, Mykhailo Tkach, has found that the Vienna address registered as former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko's place of residence is not actually a residence. Apartment No. 12 at Jordangasse 7 houses the office of CS Corporate Services GmbH.
The company offers legal addresses for Austrian limited liability companies, secretarial and management services, and the sale of pre-registered "shelf" companies. According to its website, the address in Vienna's first district, near Stephansplatz, is used to register dozens of legal entities, with staff handling clients' mail. At least two dozen other legal entities are registered at the same address, including a few well-known international firms, though most are little-known companies.
Possible motive
Journalists suggest Kravchenko and his wife may have used this address to conceal their actual place of residence in Vienna. The registration could also indicate an intent to legalize their stay in the Austrian capital, which is known for not extraditing individuals wanted in Ukraine.
The report notes that several other former Ukrainian officials already live in Vienna, including former Constitutional Court chairman Oleksandr Tupytskyi, former central bank governor Kyrylo Shevchenko, and former lawmaker Andriy Kholodov, many of whom remain there due to the war or to avoid prosecution.
Timeline of events
Kravchenko left Ukraine on the night of September 14 by premium taxi through the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing, not in a service vehicle as first reported. He submitted a resignation letter, which was approved on September 21. Earlier, on September 7, he had announced his resignation as Prosecutor General amid a NABU and SAP investigation into alleged protection schemes involving call centers. On September 14, President Zelensky suspended him from office, and parliament later approved his dismissal. Kravchenko had officially been on a trip to Paris, but his name did not appear among the announced participants of a PACE hearing he claimed to be attending.
