A former Swedish prime minister comments that Putin's actions in Ukraine appear irrational, as he pushes for escalation rather than a ceasefire, and his belief in full control of Donetsk is unrealistic.

A former Swedish prime minister has shared his assessment of Russian President Vladimir Putin's conduct in Ukraine. According to him, if Putin were to evaluate his position clearly and rationally, he would seek a ceasefire. However, all signs indicate that his judgment is clouded and he is aiming for escalation of the conflict.

The former prime minister stated that such a course of action will worsen the situation for everyone, but primarily for Putin himself. Putin still seems to believe that his forces can achieve full control of the Donetsk region, even though his generals are afraid to tell him that it is not possible.

Furthermore, Putin believes that attacks on civilian areas and critical infrastructure can force Ukraine to submit. Although these attacks undoubtedly cause immense suffering, airstrikes alone have never decided the outcome of a war, and that will not happen in Ukraine either.
