The National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) has announced the results of a competition for broadcasting rights on the 107.7 MHz frequency in Riga. This frequency was previously used by Latvian Radio 4 (LR4). The competition was held to grant rights for creating a new radio program or expanding the coverage area of an existing one. According to NEPLP, the winner is All Media Latvia, which plans to broadcast its Radio 3 program on this frequency. The decision has been published in the official gazette Latvijas Vēstnesis. Radio 3 will now be heard on the former LR4 frequency, replacing the previous public broadcaster's content. The competition was part of NEPLP's regular frequency allocation process to ensure diversity in the radio market. All Media Latvia is a media company, and it has now acquired the right to broadcast in Riga and its surroundings. The exact launch date of Radio 3 has not been announced yet, but the NEPLP decision is effective. This frequency is significant as it is one of the available frequencies in Riga, and its previous user, LR4, was a public service broadcaster. Now it will be replaced by the private Radio 3.
