Mary Earps, the 33-year-old former England international goalkeeper, has joined London City Lionesses on a two-year contract after her departure from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of her contract. During her two seasons in France, she made 22 appearances in the Première Ligue this season, keeping 12 clean sheets as PSG finished third, 13 points behind champions Lyon. Earps expressed excitement about the move, stating that the club's values align with her own and that she is eager to contribute to their ambitious plans.

Earps is a two-time FIFA Best Women's Goalkeeper award winner, who played a key role in England's Euro 2022 triumph and their run to the 2023 World Cup final. She spent five years at Manchester United, making over 100 appearances and helping them win their first major trophy—the Women's FA Cup—in 2024. After announcing her international retirement in 2025, she remains influential; her book released in November sparked controversy and media attention. Upon her return to Old Trafford earlier this season in the Women's Champions League, she received a warm ovation from home fans.

London City Lionesses are showcasing their summer ambition in the transfer market, with plans to sign Spain defender Mapi Leon and ongoing talks with two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas following her exit from Barcelona. The club, backed by wealthy American businesswoman Michele Kang, finished sixth in their debut WSL season in 2025-26. Earps noted the competitiveness of the WSL and the need for the team to climb the table. Her arrival will provide stiff competition for current number one Elene Lete, as well as boosting the club's profile and commercial appeal. The club aims to bring in up to seven players this summer to challenge for a top-four spot.
