Former Kurtna Camp Requires at Least €6 Million for Restoration
The Kohla-Järve city council's development and economy commission visited the former Kurtna camp in late June and concluded that its condition is poor, with at least €6 million needed for restoration.

In late June, the Kohla-Järve city council's development and economy commission held an extended field meeting at the former Kurtna camp in Konsu village, Alutaguse parish. City officials attended to assess the current state of buildings and infrastructure and discuss restoration possibilities.
Aivar Kamal, head of Kohla-Järve's financial service, said according to the newspaper "Severnoye Poberezhye" that briefly put, the condition is bad. If it comes to a sale, the process would be lengthy. Kamal noted that there have been potential investors interested in the property, but they have many other opportunities to invest their money. "It cannot be said with certainty that they will be ready to take the risk. But if someone wants to actively engage, Kurtna can be revived," Kamal remarked, adding that the city has a reconstruction project for the main building and cottages, but work must start with utilities, and by the most modest estimates, reconstruction requires €6 million.
The former municipal youth camp "Kurtna" last hosted visitors in 2016.
