Former Liepāja Deputy and Surgeon Fined for Hiding Over €400,000 in Income
The State Revenue Service discovered a significant discrepancy between the legal income and actual spending of a former Liepāja city council deputy and surgeon, linked to a possible gambling hobby. She was penalized for tax evasion after digital evidence and bank statements shattered her alibi.

Starting in 2022, the surgeon at Liepāja Medical Center and city council deputy led an outwardly impeccable life while engaging in her professional duties, politics, and possibly a very expensive and secret hobby – gambling at Riga casinos. The State Revenue Service noticed discrepancies in its databases, and after a thorough analysis of her cash flow, it became clear there was a gap of several hundred thousand euros between her legal income and actual spending. According to available information, the amount exceeds €400,000. A desperate legal battle ensued, but modern digital traces and bank statements were able to dismantle even the most carefully constructed alibi. As a result, the former deputy was fined a substantial amount for tax evasion. The story dates back to 2022 and 2023, when she was still a deputy and working at the medical center.
