Former University of Latvia Basketball Player Melikyan Drafted by Rockets' G League Affiliate
Armenian center, who played for the University of Latvia last season, has been selected in the G League draft by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Houston Rockets' affiliate.
Former University of Latvia (LU) basketball player Arthur Melikyan will now play for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets. The 20-year-old Armenian center was selected with the 16th pick out of 20 in the draft.
Last season, Melikyan played for LU only until the end of the year, averaging 8.2 points and 7.8 rebounds in 12 games in the Latvian-Estonian League. After the new year, he moved to Switzerland to represent the Starwings team.
Melikyan has represented the Armenian national team and, prior to his time in Latvia, played in his home country of Armenia and Kazakhstan.
