Former Ukrainian ambassador to US suspected of illegal enrichment and undeclared assets

Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court has announced that Stefanishyna, the former Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, has been notified of suspicion of illegal enrichment and false declaration. The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of bail totaling six million hryvnias, equivalent to approximately 116,290 euros.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine said she is suspected of illegal enrichment. According to investigators, she allegedly failed to declare assets — apartments and other property — that cannot be explained by her official income.

Responding to the accusation, Stefanishyna said she views the developments calmly and without unnecessary emotions, adding that the fuss around the case resembles "a storm in a teacup." She also said she has already provided sufficiently detailed comments on media reports, including those concerning property.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed her from her post in Washington on Monday.
