Drone and fireworks show over Riga closes 2026 rallycross season at Biķernieki
Biķernieki hosted the season finale of the Latvia–Lithuania rallycross championship on Saturday evening, capped by a drone and pyrotechnics display, with several class titles decided only in the last round.
On Saturday evening, the Biķernieki circuit hosted the season-closing “LV BET Nakts rallijkross” event, drawing full grandstands. Around a hundred drivers took part, with qualifying and final heats held throughout the day alongside moto freestyle and buggy performances. As a finale, drones rose above the track to form images linked to motorsport and Riga, followed by a pyrotechnics display.
Champions decided in the final round
Across the six-round Latvia–Lithuania rallycross championship, several class winners were only confirmed after the last race. In the BMW RX 3000 class, Lithuanian driver Lukas Sidabras took the title with 194 points, ahead of Jānis Olle (161) and Helmuts Bartkevičs (151).
The LADA RX class produced a tight battle: champion Rolands Bružāns finished with 166 points, just two ahead of runner-up Niks Mežiņš (164), while Niks Cīnītis placed third with 127.
In Super 2000, Lenards Lepsis claimed the title with 182 points. The fight for second and third was especially close, with Varis Zentiņš and Miks Gabrāns tying on 153 points each, and Kristaps Kasparovičs close behind with 151. In Super 1600, Valdas Mikužis topped the standings with 165 points ahead of Rytis Rutkauskas (144).
Jēkabs Martinovs dominated the Yaris 1000 class all season, scoring maximum points in five rounds to finish with 175. In Cross Car, Lithuanian driver Kernius Šulinskas won the title with 174 points, narrowly ahead of Adrians Apsītis (172) and Roberts Purmalis (171). Among the junior categories, Everts Grava won Cross Car Junior and Marians Bērzkalns won Cross Car Mini.
Special awards were also handed out during the event, including the “Sky Power” pole-position prize for Kristaps Kronbergs, while Biķernieki circuit's 60th-anniversary awards went to Marians Bērzkalns, Helmuts Bartkevičs and Bruno Blumbergs.
