A dispute between local authorities and school administration in Augšdaugava municipality has left around 60 children from Daugavpils without a school bus to Biķernieki primary school, located roughly 25 kilometers away. As a result, parents of these children currently have to find their own way to get them to and from school each day.

Blame shifted between sides

The municipality and the school offer conflicting explanations for the situation. Local government representatives say the problem stems from a list of pupils that was not submitted on time. The director of Biķernieki primary school, however, places responsibility on the municipal council, saying it has not signed a contract with a transport carrier that would provide the children's transportation.

Parents left without answers

While the two sides continue to point fingers at each other, no concrete solution to the problem has yet been found. For now, the burden of getting children to school effectively falls on parents, who must arrange transportation on their own until official bus service to the school is restored.
