Bilecky confirms Ukrainian counteroffensive near Lyman, promises more good news
The commander of Ukraine's 3rd Army Corps, Andrii Bilecky, has confirmed a counteroffensive in northern Donetsk region that cleared several settlements. He called for informational silence while promising further good news ahead.
Ukraine's 3rd Army Corps has announced counteroffensive actions in the northern part of Donetsk region, clearing 75 square kilometers of territory from Russian infiltration and de-occupying another 10 square kilometers. Corps commander, Brigadier General Andrii Bilecky, reported the advance on social media.
The operation, codenamed "Vivaldi," cleared enemy infiltration from Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova and the outskirts of Korovyi Yar, and liberated the settlement of Serednye.
Losses and consequences
According to the corps, the strikes dealt a heavy blow to the combat capability of Russia's 20th and 25th armies. Enemy losses at this stage of the operation are estimated at around 1,500 soldiers, more than 12,000 drones, and hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery systems and other military vehicles.
At the same time, drone units cut the enemy's logistics routes. As a result of the corps' strikes, Russian forces moved fuel and lubricant supply lines outside Ukrainian territory into Russia's Voronezh region, dismantling a pipeline and relocating storage facilities. This was achieved with the involvement of several corps brigades and attached units, including elements of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces and military intelligence.
Bilecky: three more "seasons" to come
Bilecky noted that open sources are circulating claims that the offensive's ultimate goal is to reach the banks of the Chornyi Zherebets river, but stressed that the operation is called "Vivaldi" — and Vivaldi's work has four seasons, with this being only the first. He urged the public to follow official statements rather than rush to speculate, promising more good news to come.
As previously reported, on August 26 President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian positions in Donetsk region would be reinforced by two renewed troop groupings, to be led by Denys Prokopenko and Andrii Bilecky. Both servicemen have been awarded the title Hero of Ukraine.
