Valts Ābols, chairman of the board of the Children's Clinical University Hospital (BKUS), stated in an interview on Latvian Television's “Rīta panorāma” program that the hospital plans to extend the age limit for its patients. Currently, BKUS provides care up to a certain age, but Ābols indicated that the goal is to raise this threshold to 25 years in the coming years. The move aims to ensure continuous, specialized medical support for young people who have not yet reached adulthood or who require pediatric expertise beyond the age of 18. A specific timeline for the change was not provided, but the hospital has committed to implementing it in the foreseeable future.
