The US heavy music band Blood Incantation will perform at the Riga club “Melnā piektdiena” on Monday, June 29, according to concert organizers. This will be the band's first appearance in Riga.

Blood Incantation is a progressive and psychedelic death metal band formed in 2011 in Denver, Colorado. They have garnered critical and audience acclaim for blending classic, technical, and heavy sound with a cosmic and ambient atmosphere, as well as elements of 1970s progressive rock. Their thematic focus includes cosmology, science fiction, metaphysics, and death.

US music outlet Stereogum described the band's music, noting that while the idea of psychedelic death metal seems contradictory, the band has managed to create a logical fusion of these elements.

Over their career, Blood Incantation has released four studio albums. Their latest album, “Absolute Elsewhere”, came out in 2024. Heavy music magazine Metal Hammer named it the best record of 2024, while Decibel ranked it No. 2 on its 2024 best albums list. This year, the band released “All Gates Open”, a soundtrack for a documentary about the making of “Absolute Elsewhere”.

The special guest for the concert will be guitarist and composer Nate Mercereau. Doors open at 7 PM, concert starts around 8 PM. Tickets are still available via Ticketshop.

On the same day, Saturday, June 27, two other major concerts are scheduled in Riga: Cavalera Conspiracy at Palladium concert hall and The Prodigy at Wondersala.
